Education

Welcome to our outdoor classroom!

Where else in the country can your students experience a unique mode of transport, combined with a visit to the beach, study the history and geology of an amazing landscape AND – to top it off – see and learn about some amazing seabirds at the same time?  What a way to spend your EOTC experience!

We offer a fun and educational outing, one that can be expanded upon once back in the classroom.  We allow students to gain knowledge, understanding and skills about many aspects of our unique natural environment.   Dr Amelia McQueen has put together a Teachers’ Education package for us – this is a great curriculum-based asset to teachers and know it has already enhanced many school visits (available in USB or hard copy).  It assists teachers in learning and teaching the topics which are showcased during the field trip – and enables students to have the opportunity to drive and extend their learning before, during and after their visit.

We may be able to adapt tours to the specific topics your students are studying, so please don’t hesitate to ask when you make your booking. It might be that you are bringing older students who are studying geology or ornithology, or younger students who are more interested in the rock pools and the creatures within!

Our tour is also ideal for visiting international students – it is an undoubtedly unique “Kiwi” experience that they will remember for a lifetime!

We offer discounted school pricing – please contact us directly for costs.

Safety & Risk Management

We are aware that schools are finding it increasingly difficult to take children out of the school gate to enjoy outdoor activities such as ours.

Gannet Beach Adventures operates by a comprehensive externally-audited Safety Management System (SMS) – a requirement for our DOC concession – and an electronic copy of this can be provided on request.

OutdoorsMark provide us with a safety-focused audit and are a well respected audit system which is recognized by the Ministry of Education.

Upon booking a detailed confirmation will be sent out – this includes RAMs forms, detailed safety information and other general information about the tour (eg. what to bring along).  An additional safety briefing is also carried out before the tractors depart.
